Cebu Series: The Ruins in Oslob

Before riding a bus and returning to Cebu City, don't fail to pass by the ruins which are located within the town proper.  From George's Resort, we rented a tricycle for Php50.00/person and went to the ruins.

The attractions are just beside each other.  We started with the unfinished Cuartel or barracks.  According to history, construction began in 1840s for the Spanish Army.  However, it was not completed till this day.  It is made of corals and limestones.  It was nicely restored like the rest of the ancient structures.

looks like watch tower, too

Next it the Church of Immaculate Conception.  We are not fortunate enough to see the interiors of this church since it is closed during our visit.  I'm sure the interior is also interesting.  This was also built in 1840s.  Some parts have been restored as well.

The original structure of the Baluarte is next.  This watch tower was built in 1788.  Till now, it stand proud in Oslob.

There are also some modern structures added to this site to serve as a park.

You can see from the picture on how still clean the sea is.  It was refreshing just to sit by these benches and let the time pass by.  There is also a Museum beside the Cuartel, but again, it is closed.

The locals are now preparing this small town for the "Iron Man" event.  How exciting it would be to watch different athletes compete in this town.

Life here in Oslob is simple and slow.  This is so far from our Manila life where people are always in a hurry.  You can see how satisfied locals are with their simple life here.

Oslob is another place where I would want to come back to remind me how to take it slow and just enjoy the view and simple things.

Then, we are off to Cebu City.
