Davao after Seven Years

happened on January 26-, 2016

Same with some of my travels, this is an overdue post. It's really hard to be updated with my blog.  Medyo hassle talaga kahit kailan ang work ^-^.

Hello Davao!
I have been visiting this beautiful city for numerous times but mostly for work related purposes and I have limited time in exploring it (di umubra pagka mcgyver ko ^-^).  Thus, when I saw a promo for airline tickets, I hurriedly booked for two, not minding that travel date is a year after.  It's so cheap anyway, for Php1,450.00 (for two persons already without check-in baggage).

Planning is easy since I'm already familiar with this place.  There is only one thing on my mind - Pearl Farm Resort.

Here's our 4D/3N itinerary:

Day 1 - checked in Red Planet, then met some collegues, ate in Conching's and went to Eagle Center. We are fortunate enough that J's ex-employee is based here and have a service vehicle.  EC is less than 2 hours by land travel from city.  So, it's better that you plan properly in going here as it closes at 5PM. Don't forget to sample the pomelo during your visit.

love the white linens
I love how clean and affordable Red Planet is.  It maybe far from the town proper but very near airport so this is one of the good choices of accommodations in Davao.  You can booked thru Agoda with guaranteed promo prices.

having a hair dryer is a plus factor
It's has the basic amenities and facilities that you are looking for a "sleeping place".  The mattress and pillows are fluffy and soft.  I also love that the sheets are white.  You can easily tell how clean the bed is.

small but organized B&T
The space is just adequate for a couple and for a short stay. It's a plus that it has a restaurant downstairs so you don't have to look for a dining place when you are already hungry.  They serve good food, too.

Conching's is quite famous in Davao, as the place is always crowded.  If you want authentic local cuisine, this is the place to be.  Price is so affordable and food so delectable.  Downside, it's dining alfresco style so expect to perspire during the hot weather.  Order seafood - tuna, scallops, etc.  They're guaranteed fresh.

always jampacked!

eat Tuna panga as much as you can while in Davao

Then we travelled for 2 hours just to see the endangered Philippine Eagle.  We must learn how to protect this specie or regret not seeing them forever.

our endangered pride
Day 2 - we travel to Pearl Farm resort and Malipano Island.  We stayed here for the night.  It was total bliss being here.  There'll be a seperate post for this beautiful resort.

my heart was left here

Day 3 - we enjoyed snorkeling the whole morning and after lunch we went back to the city.  We alighted in Luz Kinilaw (highly recommended by J's sister and had a late lunch.  In the evening, we went to Magsaysay for Durian experience and pomelo buying.  We ended the night in Matina park for some BBQ and beer.  The food and booze are cheap; student's price.

Tuna again

Day 4 - on our last day, we went to People's Park and fed some doves.  We ate lunch in Yellow Fin Restaurant.  Then it's time to get back to reality, Manila it is.  It was a well spent weekend though.

Total expenses for this trip is around Php22,100.00 (for two) with Pearl Farm's overnight accomodation (Php10,500.00) as the biggest chunk.  You can still enjoy Davao and Samal Island for a cheaper cost if you will just book in one of the mid range guest houses or resorts.,  But for a once in a lifetime experience, I would highly recommend this beautiful resort. We all deserved a "once in a blue moon " luxury, right?

Davao City is definitely one of the places I won't get tired of as long I can score a cheap air fare.  Air fares can reached upto 10K round trip if not with promo.  So start stalking airline websites if you want to visit this place ^-^.
