Bacolod 2015 Trip| It's Definitely a Food Haven

happened on September 2015

Being the sugar bowl of the Philippines, you are assured of the wide array of desserts being offered in Bacolod.  There are coffee shops, bakeries and cafes in any corner in downtown.  However, being situated near the coastline, Bacolod also offers a variety of fresh and affordable seafood.

Every person who had been here will surely suggest that you must not forget to try all the foods being offered here.  So I came prepared with a list of "must visit" restaurants and cafes but unfortunately our time is not enough to complete the list so we just chose the famous ones.
Let's begin with the food trip:

1. Dotay's Seafood House - after our ruins visit, the tricycle driver just took us here for our dinner.  Apparently, this is the famous seafood house that is not too classy but easy on the budget.  We just had some seafood soup, grilled squid and the famous scallops.  You should really try the scallops in Bacolod, they are affordable, fresh and delicious.  I'll give it 3 out of 5 for the food but for the ambiance - don't expect too much.

2. Calea - this is the one of the most famous bakery for cakes and pastries here in Bacolod.  I only tried a few and I can say that their goodies are at par with Manila's famous cafes but with a more affordable price.  I love the ambiance here - amidst the crowd, you can still get some peace and quiet in one of the corners.

3. Bob's CafĂ© - they offer not just desserts but some pasta, pizza and viands as well.  It's my first time to eat a French macaron and I love it (at 35 pesos a piece only).  I also love the cozy ambiance here.

our order.. we are so full so we can't order most of their best sellers

4. 21 Bar - famous for batchoy and steaks.  Their steaks are cheap compared to Manila's.  The ambiance is cozy and elegant, too.  This is for semi-formal dinner, if you want some peace and quiet while eating.

5. Manukan Country - Bacolod is also famous for chicken inasal or grilled chicken.  They have a different recipe here.  The chickens are lean, tender and soft.  This place is famous for this kind of food.  Prices are really cheap but the taste is not.  The place is an array of small eateries.  You just have to choose where to dine.  I just followed most of the bloggers' advice, Aida's Manukan, that is.

Yep, this is a very short list for now but definitely not short on the taste.
