SG Day 4: River Cruise

another river cruise boat
This tour is almost free with our combined tour package tickets.  Thus, even if we are dead tired already, we pursue it since it's the last day for some of our companions.

After the tour in Gardens by the Bay, we rode again the MTR and we embarked at Clarke Quay Station.  We walked for quite long and even made a mistake on the location of the dock.  But we kept on and finally found it.  After presenting the tickets, we boarded the old designed boat together with some tourists.  The boat can accommodate approximately 50 passengers.

The tour starts at Clarke Quay, an after office hang out place where there are some bars and restaurants.  I'm sure that this place is jam packed at night.  Too bad, we didn't have enough time to check this place.

The river cruise is your next best option to see all the famous tourist spots if you don't have enough time to roam around plus instead of tiring your feet, you just have to sit and enjoy the sight seeing activity.  In fairness, even if the lake is just man made, the water doesn't smell bad.  The bridges are so clean even underneath.  Imagine doing this in Manila!  Sorry, I can't help wonder on why can't we be disciplined like them.  Anyways, enjoy the trip.

Since there is an option to embark in some docking areas, we opted to embark in Marina Bay Sands to spend some time here before going back to the hotel.  We again saw the Helix bridge and MBS hotel up close.  We then grabbed a taxi here in going back to Geylang district.

On this last night, we had a bad experience with the taxi driver that we hired to take us to our hotel.  He used the very long route and went in circles.  Maybe he thought we are that so naïve and not familiar with the roads.  We decided to just go with the flow instead of arguing with him since we are in  a foreign country.  We ended up paying thrice our usual taxi fare.  I thought that honesty is one of the values being practiced here.  It only proves that there is always some evil forces residing anywhere so we really have to be careful.

Our flight (hubby and I) is scheduled in the morning so we went to the airport early to have some breakfast and get our GST refund.  I love how SG's system effectively works.  Getting the refund is so easy.  You just have to request from the machine inside the airport, then queue for verification and viola, you get your refund.  However, if you paid your purchases using a credit card then the refund will be credited to that card.  I got mine in less than a month.  It's so hassle free.

When we boarded the plane, it seems heavens know how I feel in leaving this tiny but marvelous country.

till we meet again SG
BTW, if you're curious on our total expenses... based on my computations, hubby and I spent a total of Php 44,700.00 for food, tour packages, fares, and accommodation.
