Macau Again| Red Market District

Since I have featured some parts of Macau already, this time, I would like to feature the most recommended place to visit in any travel - the market.

Chinese BBQ style

If you are reading travel articles and blogs, the market is always recommended if you want to blend with the locals and have the most delectable and freshest meals.  You can only find the freshest produce in the market.

fruits galore

I love cherries and they are affordable here

Hubby's cousin M is a very effective tour guide as he is so fond of walking around, no matter how long and far it will take.  He's also fond of being lost in every corner of Macau, discovering great diners and stores that offer good prices and items.

He took us to Red Market district.  It was called this name since the market is made of a 3 story building with red bricks.  It is the main "wet market" and where the locals shop for their fresh seafood, meat and green groceries.

We didn't enter this red building but we roamed around the vicinity in time for breakfast.  We bought some dimsums in a crowded kiosk.  On my first visit in Macau, M also took us here for these dimsums.

don't know where to go? just follow the crowd

business is good for this dimsum kiosk

siopao

radish cake

so yummy sesame balls or buchi

ever favorite siomai

steamed sticky rice
We then bought some smoked and roasted meats from this corner.  They're offering a wide variety of roasted meats - from Peking duck to chicken feet and wings.

nothing goes to waste

smoked bacon
Passing by these fresh produce makes me want to cook right there and then.  Their color is so vibrant and very inviting.

fresh, fresh, fresh

red, yellow and green

don't underestimate these bean sprouts.. they are big!
chorizo

And breakfast is SRO in the tiny park.  The park is not so clean but we managed to find a nice spot.

hmmm Hubby is getting money from my wallet hehe

and this is breakfast
Adjacent to the park, we noticed a building with this sign.  We instantly felt proud that our dearest country has been an option for college education.

On our last day (in Macau), we returned for lunch.  We again followed where the crowd is going and found this hole in the wall type noodle house.

no English name
It's a mother and son tandem.  They spoke little English so our orders were made through hand gestures only.

the sauce of the soup..
While waiting for our orders to be ready, I checked the fruits for dessert.  It'll be cherries again, of course.

and this is dessert

they also have a shrine in one corner
And our orders arrived just in time....

beef noodles.. super soft and tender

sautéed cabbage
The noodle soup is superb and so cheap at MOP15.  Remembering how good it was makes me want to go to Binondo right now.

They are also fond of pickles.  They can pickled anything edible I guess.

Another reason why we went here is for the vinyl and other pre loved items. There are lots and lots of these items here.  They are quite overwhelming so I just waited for hubby to finish his scavenger hunting.

let the hunting begin...

CDs

electronics stuff
Hubby spent quite a long time here looking for good vinyl albums only to find out that they cost high and not worth buying.

Good thing this bird sang for us.  I wanted to take it home.

In Macau, brand stores are just also around the corner.  What amazed me most are the jewelry shops without guards.  It only shows that there is almost zero crime here.

huge jewelry sets
I don't think I'll ever get tired of looking around these stores and I'll always return to this market whenever I'm here in Macau.
