Day 3, Jan. 12, 2015, Ngong Ping 360, Lantau Island
From TST MTR Station, embark at Lai King, transfer train going to Tung Chung, embark in Tung Chung

gloomy weather |
It's cable car journey again! This time, a more nerve wrecking ride since we will cross the ocean and mountains at high altitude. We were both first timers here so I'm excited as well as a little bit nervous.
Ngong Ping 360 is one of the famous attractions in HK located in Lantau Island. This is home to the Po Lin Monastery and Tian Tian Buddha (biggest Buddha in HK).

But on the day of this trip, heaven is so not on our side. It's raining cats and dogs which keeps the temperature low. This is the coldest weather that I have experienced in HK.
It took us around 45 mins. to reach Tung Chung from TST, passing by Sunny Bay (where Disneyland is). In this station, lies City Gate Outlets where you can shop for discounted items. I love it here since there are Cath Kidston and Coach outlet stores.
It is very near the airport already. I have noticed that most of the passengers in MTR that time are carrying baggage. I later found out that it's a half way option before going to the airport since you can shop first in the outlet stores. There's a bus here that goes directly to the airport.

We walked for a few meters, passed by the post office before reaching the cable car station.
Here, we still need to line up to exchange our advanced discounted tickets. Ate Yolly recommended that we buy the crystal cabin tickets. It's the car with glass bottom so we can have a full view of our surroundings while inside it.
|
not too many people that time |

we're good to go |

cars are not stopping so you have to be quick in boarding |
However, I don't know if it's a good or bad thing that the weather is gloomy. We have a blurred view of what's around us. All we can see are the greens below and fog all over. Maybe, if the sky is clear, it will be a frightening ride.

what it'll look like during clear weather? |
It took around 25 minutes before reaching the village. There's a heavy down pour of rain when we reached it. Good thing I brought an umbrella or we will be forced to buy raincoats at HKD40.00 (Php240.00) each.

the forever stars ^-^ |
The Village depicts the old Chinese design and architecture. These structures however are retail shops and eateries.
|
make a wish |
The various designs of cable cars all over the world.
Then more of shopping stores...
|
one of the souvenir shops |
We wanted to experience the Buddha walk and Monkey's trail. However, due to the heavy down pour, we can only enjoy window shopping. In addition, my dearest hubby is so "yabang" in wearing only a pair of shorts, so we need to be indoors most of the time since he's feeling so cold.
|
I really want to see you up close but... |
|
silhouette lang nakita naming huhuhu |
|
so near yet so far |
Since we cannot roam around much, we just ate lunch and returned to City Gate Outlets for some shopping.
|

hot ramen for the cold weather |
|
I love those red floating things in my tea |
Going back, we passed this public pool and the residence building.
Till our next meeting Ngong Ping 360... I'll make sure it will be on a good weather when I return.
